Day 1 - Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane - Cairns
Your tour begins from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane flying Virgin
Airlines to Cairns, in Far North Queensland. The remainder of the
day is free.

Day 2 - Cairns - Kuranada Skyrail
After breakfast you join the Kuranda Scenic Railway for the 34km
journey from Cairns up to the Atherton Tablelands. Built in 1891,
the line is an accurate representation of the period and is classified
by the National Trust. The journey takes us from the coastal plain
through rainforest and Barron Gorge to Kuranda. After lunch in one
of the many restaurants you walk across to the Skyrail terminus for
the journey back down the mountains to Cairns. Below you can see
the panoramic view of the rainforest, with the Great Barrier Reef

Day 3 - Cairns - Port Moresby
You have an early morning International departure for the flight
to Papua New Guinea. The route skirts the Great Barrier Reef before
crossing Torres Strait and on to your destination of Port Moresby
- capital of Papua New Guinea. After lunch you join your tour guide
for a drive around Port Morseby.

Day 4 - Port Moresby - Mt Hagen
Your flight path today is along the southern coast and into the
Central Highlands to the township of Mt Hagen. Upon arrival you journey
to Paiya Village for lunch and to meet the locals. From here you
travel along the Mt Hagen/Wabag road to view some of the most magnificent
scenery in PNG.

Day 5 - Mt Hagen
Today your journey is to the Wahgi Valley for a traditional sing
sing before travelling to Minidima for the mudmen performance. After
lunch you continue on to the Chimbu Cultural Centre, for a performance
by the local players, returning to the hotel is at around 1700. Highlander

Day 6 - Mt Hagen - Madang
We need to depart early this morning to miss the cloud. After
crossing the Bismark Ranges we land at the picturesque coastal town
of Madang. The remainder of the day is spent visiting some of the
areas that saw the heaviest fighting of WW II. Coastwatchers Hotel

Day 7 - Madang - Rabaul
From Madang you fly across to the island of New Britain and its
eastern most town of Rabaul. After landing you transfer to the Rapopo
Plantation Resort. The resort is a work copra plantation set in an
idyllic location on the waters edge. The remainder of the day is

Day 8 - Rabaul
A full day of touring is scheduled in this sparsely populated
area with its stunning coastline of white beaches and pristine areas
of rainforest. Of special interest are the twin volcanoes of Tavurur
and Vulcan that last erupted in 1994 leaving the township under volcanic

Day 9 - Rabaul - Lae
Early morning flight along the very centre of New Britain, crossing
Vitiaz Strait to the historic township of Lae. It was here in 1937
that Amelia Earhart departed on the last leg of her ill-fated flight
around the world. Our tour includes the War Cemetery with 2363 graves
of Australian soldiers.

Day 10 - Lae - Port Morseby - Kokoda
You rejoin your aircraft for the flight across the Owen Stanley
Ranges into Port Moresby. From the airport you join a tour that will
go along the Kokoda Track, finishing the day back in Port Moresby.

An early morning departure south to Brisbane/Sydney or Melbourne
